Wireless access is  available at PPL.  Connect (at no charge) to the Internet on your laptop anywhere in the library.  Instructions for connecting are available here in PDF format.   

Computers and Technology

The library has two computer labs, one on the main floor, and one in the basement.  We offer computer classes October through April.  More information, and a description of the classes available, may be found here.

The main floor lab has 14 computers with Internet access, with an additional 2 computers for word processing and research. There are 4 computers with Internet and word processing software, reserved for students doing homework or online classes.  Two scanners are available for public use.  Each computer is connected to a black and white laser printer and a color laser printer. Printing is 10¢ per page for black and white and 50¢  for color. 

Our basement Gates Learning Lab was added in July of 2001 and features sixteen computers and one trainer's station.  Photos and more information about the Gates Lab may be found here.  Please read our policy regarding computers and Internet use at PPL.

There are several other computers available in the main library area for specific research (INSPIRE, library catalog, etc.). The children's area currently has 6 computers with educational programs and games and 1 adult computer to be used by parents who have their children with them.  Because of copyright laws, we cannot allow patrons to install personal programs on our computers.

Please consult the local yellow pages for a computer service and repair business for assistance in repairs or problems with personal computer equipment.
