The Protector

The Protector, #4 in the O'Malley Series. This one is focused on Jack, one of the O'Malley clan. Jack is a fire fighter and has seen a lot of destruction. Fellow fireman, Chad, Cassie and Ash are forever changed in an unfortunate accident during a fire call. Ash disappears once Cassie is on her way to recovery. She's not able to resume her fire duties and goes another direction with a career. However, arson fires start appearing only during the shift that Jack is on and there are words spray painted such as murderer, cowards and popcorn trails. Cassie gets pulled back into the unit to assist with administrative work to begin and soon back on calls. Jack tries so hard to protect her and someone reappears. Cassie has seen who she believes to be the arsonist.

Is it someone she knows? The fires continue to get worse and aimed at firemen's homes and property. Finally, it comes down to the last fire. One dead, two firemen injured and hard to believe who has been setting these fires and why. It was right in front of them all the time.

Throughout the book, another O'Malley struggles with "believing". Why should they? How can you believe God is good when He allows death? Jennifer is still strong in her faith despite her continuing struggle with cancer. It all comes together for another O'Malley when they all but face death.

This is book 4 of the series and even though the story line is all the same, seeing if all of the O'Malley's come to believe, the plots have all been captivating and definitely hold your attention. Next is The Healer.   PPL Catalog

The Witness

Review
Dee has done it again, completely taken me by surprise with another great book! What did Mandy witness years ago to cause her to go on the run for 11 years? Finding out her boyfriend wasn't who she thought he was, being in possession of information a mob boss wanted and moving from town to town constantly, under different names. She comes into contact with a chief of police after a jewelry robbery takes place. She disappears again. She must be found.

A very wealthy man dies, leaving his wealth to a nephew and two daughters that very few people knew he had, including them. Money, some times you wish you didn't have it. There is a connection between Maria, Tracey and Mandy. All three are under high security because of the money. Out of nowhere, there are murders taken place of former employees of the Benton Group...why? Is there another child of Henry, the owner? Why did he pass the business to his nephew Daniel?

As Mandy (Amy) begins to trust again, reunites with family, the unthinkable happens. Will this cause Mandy to quit hiding and help this whole thing come to an end? How is one reporter getting information that hasn't been released to the public?

Once again, Dee has done an excellent job with this story line, keeping your interest and surprising you with a shocking event.
